Salutations. Like my avatar? I love her! I decided to use her as my blog theme because I feel like her. I’m just trying to get on with my day and these crazy blackbirds keep coming out of nowhere to attack, pick and pester me!!

I've left a fundamentalist/cultish organization. It appeared normal on the surface, but turned out to be a very subtle brain washing machine. Helpful at first. Harmful in the end.

Leaving has been more of a detox process than a simple matter of walking away. I feel like my avatar represents this journey. As I try to go on my merry way, critics, accusations, doubts and fears swoop at me. They pick away at my confidence causing my steps to falter.

So, I blog on the journey trying to focus on the positives. I won't let the past or the swooping naysayers and thoughts stop me. I will go on. I will stay positive.

I care deeply for God. He is so good. I won't let the fakers and dominators ruin His good name in my mind or in the minds of others who have been in a similar situation as mine. I know others who feel as I do and it's been a comfort to learn that I'm not alone. Don't feel too bad if you've been duped by a fundamentalist church and haven't bounced back overnight. Stay strong! We can make it! Don't let the blackbirds get to you!
